By Jeff Glasson • January 21, 2010
Collectors now have an additional online resource for die-cast model information with the launch of the all new Car Room Magazine website. The site’s initial set of features offer information by scale and brand, a photo gallery, die-cast oriented videos and the ability to subscribe to the print version of magazine.
The site has launched with content that can be found in previous issues of the print magazine. Moving forward, collectors can expect to see a great deal of new information that goes beyond the printed page. In addition, a good deal of exciting new functionality is already in the works, and will be rolled out during the first half of the year.
This new site along with some “yet to be announced” surprises are just a part of what is looking to be a banner year for The Car Room Magazine.

These are clips from a video produced by CHANNEL KBOB when a T-Bucket Rally was held in Mountain Home, Arkansas in 2005. Also included is an interview with Norm Grabowski, the hot rod builder who created the very first Kookie Car which was seen the TV show 77 Sunset Strip. The car was featured on the cover of the October, 1955 issue of Hot Rod Magazine and later in the April 29, 1957 issue of Life Magazine. Norm is a fellow Arkansan now, after retiring from Hollywood, where he appeared in many movies and television shows, including Roustabout, Girl Happy, and The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.

Ed Roth’s Honda N600
Here’s a bonus weekend post illustrating just how much Hondas have infused American culture. Ed “Big Daddy” Roth was creator of the Rat Fink and a legend in the hot rod and Kustom Kulture scene of the 60s. His custom choppers and show cars were among the most famous of their era. You may recall names like Road Agent, Mysterion, or Road Agent from your youth, and anyone who grew up playing with Hot Wheels knows the Beatnik Bandit.
Many of Roth’s personal cars, however, were Hondas, which he used to sell Rat Fink merchandise at hot rod shows and run his custom painting business. A couple of years ago his Honda Civic went up for sale, and now his 1973 Honda N600 will follow.
The N600 currently part of a huge single-owner collection of 80-plus iconic American hot rods and customs that includes famous show cars by Boyd Coddington, George Barris and more. But not for long. Soon they will change hands at RM Auctions’ “Icons of Speed and Style” bidding frenzy to be held at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on September 26, 2009.

1953 Buick Skylark Convertible owned by Bob Hope
Posted by RARiccardi in Movie Cars on July 7, 2008
The 1953 Skylark, was built as a limited edition (1690 cars) to commemorate Buick’s 50th Anniversary. Each Skylark was custom built to order with the owner’s name, Bob Hope, embedded in the steering wheel. The Skylark was only available as a convertible with a design that spoke of class and performance. This is arguably one of the most collectible Buicks ever.
